PRESIDING DEITY AND LOCATION :
Sri Shanthinath Bhagwan in white color, seated in a lotus posture of height 75 Cms in a shrine at Kasindra village. (Shve).
ANTIQUITY AND SALIENT FEATURES :
In scriptures, the ancient name of this place is found to be Kashhurd. In this temple on one small single room shrine there is an inscription which states that it has been built by Shreshthi Sri Vaman Porwad in Vikram year 1091. This is a testimony which shows that the temple must be an earlier period. From the inscription found on the pedestal of the Presiding Deity, it must have been ceremonially installed and consecrated in Vikram year 1234, May be during renovations carried out in 1234 this idol was ceremonially installed.
Kashrhud Gachchha was founded at this place. The contributions made by the brave and devout Jain householder families of this place during the battle between Shahbuddin Ghori and the local king Dharavarsh in Vikram year 1253 is noteworthy in as much as wounded and scarred Shahbuddin Ghori had to make a hasty and ignominious retreat from here. The Jain families of this place being inspired by Acharya Bhagwants of Kashrbud to do any deeds of religious glorification have enhanced the prestige of Jain religion.
Every year on Vaishakh Sukla 10, a flag is being hoisted here on the mast of the temple Sikhar.
There is no other temple in the immediate vicinity.
The sight of this ancient temple surrounded by 52 small single room-shrines . There is no idols in these shrines. The ancient artistic idol of Sri Shanthinath Bhagwan in the main temple is both inspiring and sensitive.
